Oracle Corporation was founded in 1977 in Santa Clara, California, by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, and Ed Oates. The company was originally called Software Development Laboratories (SDL) and later renamed to Relational Software Inc. before becoming Oracle Corporation in 1982.
